The passing of Dr. AK Ogra in the early hours of December 9th, 2023, marks a profound loss for both the Kashmiri community and the region as a whole. As a distinguished educationist and Professor of Physics, Dr. Ogra was celebrated for his deep understanding of Sanatani traditions and the cultural heritage of Kashmir. His expertise extended beyond academia, embodying the essence of a true spiritualist.
Dr. Ogra was renowned within our community for his intimate knowledge of 'pooja padati' and 'Havan vidhi', rare skills that underscored his commitment to preserving our rituals and traditions. His expertise was recognized far and wide, exemplified by his invitation to conduct a Havan according to the Shakta tradition at a prominent South Indian temple.
A founding member of the Nagdandi Ashram, Dr. Ogra played an instrumental role in its early development. His encyclopedic knowledge of religious and cultural matters was unparalleled, especially in the realms of Shakta and Shaiva practices within the Kashmiri tradition.
His demise is not only a loss to the Sanatani tradition nationwide but also leaves a void in the hearts of the Kashmiri community and those touched by his wisdom and spirit. Dr. Ogra was one of the few who undertook the sacred Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in Tibet, reflecting his deep spiritual commitment.
We at Koshur Foundation extend our deepest condolences to his family and pray for peace for his departed soul. May his legacy continue to inspire and guide us. Om Shanti Om.
